Oooh I dunno about that. The cat no.s on them are definitely EBR cat numbers... and yes there was a 'D' - perhaps the least common of the lot but there were all a little rare, wernt they. Checking my own, personal 'tarzan' database, created in Access years back when I.... (etc) I have EBR013 and THATS the one that says B on the label... I also have a 'mispress' of these with just a white label on both sides, and one etched EBR010AA and the other etched EBR013AA. A side (EBR010) is that "Certificate 15" tune (surely Shy FX) - wicked tune, if maybe a bit cheesy... He should a used the "certificate 18" sample I reckon...! And if thats not Shy FX I'll eat my avatar... The other side (EBR013) is the same as the B side of the proper EBR013 release, and is a strange, 4:3 time signature tune which has got to be T Power. Odd that my proper EBR013 tune has 'B' on it and not 'D'... and I heard 'D' and its definitely a different tune... on both sides... I did actually ID that Alphabet 'D' as one tune I had on a tape - from a Kenny Ken Kiss 100 show I think... but dunno if its still there. Quote

These labels should be treated like the De Underground ones and where releases don't exist they should be deleted, not listed as "remains unreleased" Quote

Or promo only?Well I take that info from Tech's post here: "C" is "changed" from IVORY 3 to ALPHABET C and "D" is "changed" from IVORY 4 to ALPHABET 4 on my copies.......and IVORY001 is "changed" from CBR(or GBR)012I suppose if there are white label promo's of "Mad Apache" then I spose this might count as having 'promo only' status for the Ebony label... If the cat no was scratched out on the master then we can't count it as an Ebony release. The whites have the IVORY cat no on them, scractched out cat nos should be ignored and just included as extra info Quote
Ornette Posted November 2, 2005 Report Posted November 2, 2005 Yeah, maybe,but at least that kind of info enables us to fill in the blanks elsewhere - or do you prefer miscillaneous questions marks in your label release listings? I think its more than fair to have at least some reference on the Ebony release list to say that EBR012 appears to have probably intended to be the "Mad Apache"/"Strokes" 12" but was cancelled. I'd say exactly the same thing for the RAP001 release - a pointer should be put under the Philly Blunt listings to indicate that the tune was seemingly originally slated for a Philly Blunt release but was cancelled and put out under 'Rap Records' instead. - - - - - - - These dodgy Alphabets are probably another candidate for that old 'shared label' conundrum...
