I think it's confusing having these in the database as it looks like they were actually 12"s at some point which they definitely weren't I think we need to try and get rid of releases like these as much as we can in the database as I don't really see any advantage to having them there. herman8r Posted March 1, 2009 Report Share Posted March 1, 2009 ive got all the tunes involved ALPHA A B C D and EBR 11 and 13 and this is how ive worked it out to be - ALPHABET A + B are made from ebony records 11 & 13,,ALPHA A has 1 tune from ebony 11 and its cat number b/w a tune from ebony 13 and its cat also, ALPHA B has a tune from ebony 11(flipside) and its cat number b/w a tune from ebony 13 & cat number,seems they got the tunes mixed up at the press house and the alphabet series was aborted.ALPHA C + D went on to be IVORY 3-4,so it would seem that the printed A B alphabet releases are mispresses ..? That's confused things a bit then...I didn't realise they existed in that form must be test presses only,EBR 011 has in pen - potential badboy the spirit/get busy,so if you have the A or B printed releases you'll have 1 track from EBR 11 on it and 1 track from EBR 13 the cat number is correct for that side there just on different vinyls to each other,does this make sense ? herman8r Posted March 2, 2009 Report Share Posted March 2, 2009 this is how i think it should bethese ebr's here exist as white labels or test presses - EBR 010 - shy fx - open up your doors / classified as 15 EBR 011 - p.b.boy - the spirit / get busy EBR 012 - shy fx - mad apache / strokes EBR 013 - 2 track - untitled / untitled ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IVORY 001 - shy fx - mad apache / strokes (stamper changed ,ebr 12 crossed out, ivory 1 etched and an ivory rec label used) IVORY 002 - auto maton - numbers / 33rd parallel (full label release,label+etching correct ) after ivory rec 2 they must have decided to start the alphabet series and move the planned ivory 3 + 4 releases to C & D of the alphabet series.To make up an A & B of the series,tracks from ebr 11 & 13 were used (1 from each side) and were just given a big "A" or "B" to identify them as alphabet a or b,they then scrap alphabet and go back to ivory records taking back the original alpha C & D cat numbers (ivory 3 & 4 which are lightly scratched out) IVORY 003 - shy fx - mad apache remix / untitled (re-scheduled for alphabet c for some reason , stamper changed, ivory 3 crossed out,alphabet c etched & an alphabet c label used) this should mean that there are white label's of ivory 3 + 4 with their cat number intact ? IVORY 004 - untitled/untitled(re-scheduled for alphabet d , stamper changed to alphabet d,ivory 4 crossed out & an alphabet d label used) thats how i see it but where this leaves the printed A & B i dont know ,they dont fit in anywhere ! I think we can get A, B and C in place, just really not sure about D At least we can get Ebony sorted. It should have cat no EBR011 and features A: Potential Bad Boy - The SpiritB: ??? - ??? (Same tunes as EBR013A) "B" needs adding. It should have cat no EBR011AA and features A: Potential Bad Boy - Get BusyB: ??? - ??? (Same tunes as EBR013AA) "D" needs to be added and is the same as IVORY4 with that cat no crossed out and ALPHABETD in its place - http://www.rolldabeats.com/release/ivory/ivory4/ All the alphabet releases should have release titles of A, B, C and D respectively ALPHABETB that we have listed is wrong, I think. I don't know what this release is but I don't want to delete it for nowhttp://www.rolldabeats.com/release/alphabet/alphabetb/ There is no release with the cat no ALPHABETB. Can anyone who has "B" listen through and see whether the b-side is in 3/4 time - I believe that's where this track gets its name from? Do people agree? Tech in the other thread definitely tells us Alphabet 'C' is crossed out IVORY 3 & Alphabet 'D' is crossed out IVORY 4 hence IVORY 3 & 4 should be removed.
