Hi RDB,

Among the other updates you've been working on. How does an addition to the Browse sub-menu to browse by release dates sound?

A page something like:

2006 - Jan - Feb - Mar - Apr - May - Jun - Jul - Aug - Sep - Oct - Nov - Dec - Unknown month

2007 - Jan - Feb - Mar - Apr - May - Jun - Jul - Aug - Sep - Oct - Nov - Dec - Unknown month

2008 - Jan - Feb - Mar - Apr - May - Jun - Jul - Aug - Sep - Oct - Nov - Dec - Unknown month

2009 - Jan - Feb - Mar - Apr - May - Jun - Jul - Aug - Sep - Oct - Nov - Dec - Unknown month

Unknown year

And clicking in the month you want, bringing up releases in that period. For releases with just a year or even an unknown year, the unknown links could list those.

FuZion.

Bumping this to add another voice... I would be very glad if RDB's massive database could also be browsed by release date. Would be fantastic for diving into a certain period, explore the beginnings of genres, etc.

The new site is going to be going live within the next couple of weeks. There are loads of changes so I'd definitely like to revisit this and see how we can improve the browse area and expand it a fair bit. I really like the release date idea but I've still not created a browse area that lets you browse a list of releases, it's just lists of artists and labels still.

I'll put this on the to do list and make sure that I look at it all asap. I want to have other things in there to filter but such as genre (as well as format etc.), the only problem here is that there are still a lot of tracks (releases get their genres from these) that haven't had a genre added. The new site allows any registered member to add a genre to a track so I'm hoping that people will help out here and start adding missing genres when they see them.

Keep the ideas coming and please bump these topics if it looks like they've been forgotten about!
