H_M_M
i read alot of people saying it's kool inc's give it up, however if you actually listen to it, some snares/clicks are in the wrong places, and the fingerclick/snap sound isn't in 'give it up' have a close listen. humana
Couldn't it just be other bits layered into it? It's certainly been beefed up for Dope On Plastic, but I do reckon it's from Give It Up. You can tell by the 'feel' of the drum pattern. It has those mega funky little nuances in the playing style that make it what it is. I do think the break as used in Dope is a splice of two different sections of Give It Up in order to make the complete loop. Could this be why it sounds different to you? It's definitely the drum pattern that plays round and round in my head above all others, there's just something about it! Anyone have youtube links for both Give It Up and Dope On Plastic? Seems like those youtube gits have deleted them!
mikeeee-mk2
The finger clicks are definitely added over the top of the break, there's a bit where the break drops out and you can hear the clicks on their own.
