As you might have noticed the amount of information and discussion has increased a lot lately. Pretty sure this is caused by the My Collection option due to which people check their own releases to the information in the database. At the moment of writing there are close to 25000 releases in various collections already. Really nice to see people are using the option.

However, since there still hasn't been much time on my side to make a system which allows more than one guy to update the database it is still up to me. I think this is just a gulf of info at this moment due to the reason above, after which I hope have the time to set up a system which allows the other moderators to alter the database as well. For now the updating of the information has always had first priority. Mainly since I have always seen it as a 'thank you' to the submitter. Besides that the pile of updates grow mad if they don't get done first.

What I am asking by this post is NOT to hold back on the updates, but post the information in a structured form besides the discussion the info can cause. Try to use links to the actual releases in the database you are referring to. And post complete release information, might sound overdone, but it surely makes it easier for me. And when a track name or credited artist should be changed please check the database whether the actual track is listed on more releases than the one you were originally referring to.

Thanks in advance, and keep the info coming!

Understood and noted.

I've realised where some of the threads turn into discussions, any actual facts that are uncovered do start to become 'hidden', making it hard for anyone to quickly glance and make the required alterations. Especially when one is asking for approval for a change to an existing database entry

I have considered whether it might actually be worth starting duplicate topics on occassion, condensing all the gleened information into a single, comprehensive chunk.

I think duplicate topics will just mean that there's more to sift through but Ornette's right that topics do get confusing and information gets lost.

I think the best way to deal with this is for someone to summarise the topic in a reply if everything's getting confusing. I'll try and do this where possible.

It would be great for the mods to be able to help with the updates, I know Thijs is very busy and it makes sense for us all to help out with the workload. One thing that I think people (not just the mods) can do is to check that things aren't getting lost in the forums and try to look out for old topics that have not been updated in the db, that way we can make sure that every contribution is dealt with :)
