The_Manipulator
http://tarzan.spoox.org/display.php?type=artist&id=379 For some reason I doubt that Floyd Dyce is Baby D...
techleash
Floyd Dyce IS Baby D and was behind most of the tunes that were released on Production House.
haste
Baby D was a group, not one person. The tunes were made by Dice but the singer was "Baby D", she's the blonde one in all the videos. I don't know her real name but you should add her to the group "Baby D" as the person "Baby D" :?
thijs
there is a baby d called dania birks, cant figure out whether she's the one though...
haste
Where did you get that name from? Nino is also in Baby D http://tarzan.spoox.org/display.php?type=a...=artist&id=3534
The_Manipulator
there is a baby d called dania birks, cant figure out whether she's the one though... I've got a US house tune by "Baby D". No info, but I doubt it's the same... (would have to listen to it though... and I don't think the tune was that great...) Another thing everybody here needs to think about is Artist vs Producers! The blonde IS Baby D. Floyd Dyce and Nino are the producers/writers! And maybe some background vocals occasionally. Just like En Vogue is the 3 or 4 women, and NOT Foster/McElroy who wrote & produced the tunes. I don't know if they tried to bring it as a group, but as far as I can see it is brought as just a female singer... Which is why Casanova is listed as Baby D, MC Juice & The Brothers Grimm (= Dice & Acen). Though there are some strange things on this CD if for example "Euphoria" is the same as the House Crew one... (which has vocals from Natasha Mayne... and not Baby D)

Especially if we are gonna branch out into other types of music at some point, the Reggae/Hip Hop/RnB being good examples of genres where the artist and producer are two very different thingsI don't know if they tried to bring it as a group, but as far as I can see it is brought as just a female singer...They were actually billed as a band over here at the time, just taking their name from the singer....confusing, I know :? haste
I don't think they were ever seen as a band on the production house label but whent hey performed live they were presented as one. kinda hard to say how we should have it but dyce and nino were always "in" Baby D (pardon the pun ) rather than just being the producers etc. in the background. I'd like to have it in the db as a band, even though it doens't make much sense
The_Manipulator
I don't think they were ever seen as a band on the production house label but whent hey performed live they were presented as one.How they performed should have nothing to do with how they should be classified. People like Madonna or Kylie are singers, but when performing they usually have a band. Hell, even M-beat used a band when performing! So making a tune or performing is different.(and yeah, I know it's different in house where usually the artist = the performer, as with The Prodigy, Underworld, etc). kinda hard to say how we should have it but dyce and nino were always "in" Baby D (pardon the pun ) rather than just being the producers etc. in the background. I'd like to have it in the db as a band, even though it doens't make much sense It's okay. I only know "Baby D" from the records (and a few vids... I think). But if The Master feels they should be listed as a band, who am I to go against it
haste
hahaha...The Master?! I get all your points, and agree with them. The whole dance music "band" thing is such a grey area anyway as it's not the traditional way in which the music is presented. To be honest, I'm not fussed either way. We just need to make sure that Floyd Dyce isn't listed as Baby D if we are going to refer to "it" as a just one person

ib_su
i don't think this will help but anyway: there are 3 people on the cover of the album: http://stat.discogs.com/R/45082-001.jpg (and what does discogs say? "Members: Floyd Dyce" )

Put members as Baby D, Dice and Nino (well, I guess the third is Nino as Haste said).(hmm... didn't some of the last tunes have male vocals as well??? or was that the 2-step remix of Let Me Be...) (and what does discogs say? "Members: Floyd Dyce" ) Yeah... but that's why Tarzan is better
