Ornette
Thought it'd be a idea to make up a thread where we can post really great examples of new tunes but done in an old school vein. Here's one to get started:Tim Reaper 'Final Chapter Remix' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n84m67h7-hg

Jungle Syndicate
IJO seems to make plenty of tracks like this, but this release in particular - www.unjustifiedrecords.com/general/ijo-downtrek-e-p/ An interesting fact about this e.p is that ”the idea behind all these tracks was to make proper dancefloor jungle tunes using the same gear that’s been used on numerous jungle tunes from the ’94 era. All these tracks have been made on Akai S1000 with only 2Mb of RAM installed, and i barely used half of it on each track. Mixed down live to a cassette tape” Don’t say we don’t treat you here at Unjust HQ This really is a cracking e.p, We have ‘Downtrek’ a straight up crashy jungle smasher, ‘Filtra scope’ a more atmospheric paddy piece of jungle workmanship that would fit right in in the late 90s, ‘Proto national’ up next which is more of a dancefloor number filled to the brim with intricate chops and edits as we have come to know and love from IJO and finally ‘The drumper’ another crashy amen-tastic masterpiece. Download HERE This is another particularly good one… the original is obviously a completely different style track but the drums are mashed in a 90s way, hence the remix title… Anyone looking for more IJO stuff two good places to start are here and here (and most of its free for download, so why not?) Ornette
1st Science 'Try To Love Me remix'I'm actually really into this! Considering I don't particularily like the Manix original or remix, that's quite an achievement. Turns it into a housey/rave-ish sort of affair. 1st Science doesn't get the props he deserves http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axNTsnhGR5U
vetoe13
All of the Scientific Wax stuff, to be fair... Of course of course! I just really had a nut on for "Scatter" ever since I first heard it!

Ornette
Lol you two make me laugh! Love the ravey dancing in the 'whats on the menu' video Leah, that actually is an old skool tune, and a commercial one at that. Got in the charts over here back in 1995.Although I don't think much of it... read here: http://en.wikipedia....ne#Technohead_2also: http://danmacrae.tum...re-gone-entries"In 2004, Channel 4 released their list of the “One Hundred Worst Pop Records”. In 2010, Dan MacRae (in a fit of drunken hubris) declared he would listen to all of the listed songs and comment about them on his blog. Oh well, this is the 'Chat' bit of the forum... I'm sure any old crap will do! I remember they performed it on Top Of The Pops once and changed the lyrics to "I wanna be a hippie and wanna get stoned on mara.... mara-mara!" which I always thought was amusing
Ornette
Right I've been neglecting this thread of late, so got some more to add: Taxman - Dreamlandhttp://www.rolldabea...ngs/liqweed015/ I was pretty surprised to see a tune like this come out on a mainstream label recently, its a pretty '94 sounding track with drifting amens and 808 bass drops, & as the Nu Urban blurb says, "Taxman gets in on the old skool revival, dropping a smashing amen-led number that LTJ Bukem in his heyday would have been proud of... ...stays firmly in mid-'90s drum & bass, with rolling breaks". It's a pretty decent track. There's no youtube for this, but have found a clip to listen to:http://www.rolldabeats.com/s3.php?path=liqweed015-a.mp3http://www.nu-urbanmusic.co.uk/drum_and_bass/shop/images/liqweedganja.gif
