Holy shit, that's a good spot. Always wondered where that came from, I'd imagined some obscure hip hop track but never would have guessed it was fuckin' Martika!
Also used on this hilariously badly produced tune on Ibiza:

I was never convinced by this, I couldn't hear anything that marked this down as obviously the source of the Illegal Subs break.
This however, is undeniably the correct source. (Perhaps not a coincidence that it is still Prince?)
The edit 31 seconds into the Prince track is the big giveaway.

I think it's still very likely that subsequent uses have been sampled from Illegal Subs.

Nice find! This is the correct source. The edit before the break is the main giveaway, but everything else matches to.
There is a tambourine hit on top the first kickdrum which is also in Illegal subs. The Martika tune has a cowbell and hihat which are not in Illegal Subs.
Oh, also: the Tune is actually called "Do Your Dance (Etheral Mix)". The uploader used the maxicd which i bought and only lists it as etheral mix (and has some jumps a few seconds after the break). The 12" single has the correct titles. /https://www.discogs.com/Prince-The-New-Power-Generation-Cream/master/97247)

Yeah, it wasn't me who found it, by the way. I am Chinny Reckon, on here and on Who Sampled.
