#67200 EYE01 / NTT1253

Posted by iamdek on 23 October 2006 - 10:10 PM in Releases

OK ... think this needs looking at ..

http://www.rolldabeats.com/search/catalogue/eye01

I have this release. It has an Entity label with 3rd Eye credit. The label has the cat# NTT1253. The etching however is EYE01. Can anyone confirm the existence of a release etched with NTT1253? If not, then this should be scrapped from the database, leaving :

http://www.rolldabeats.com/release/3rd_eye/eye01

but with the comment changed to 'Cat# on label NTT1253'

and

the trackorder and 2 tracknames are incorrect. Ignore whats written on the label for the trackorder .. it should be :

A1.  System X  -  Say It
A2.  System X  -  Say It (Version)
B1.  System X  -  Mindgames (Dub Mix)
B2.  System X  -  Mindgames

Marvellous  :tongue:

Yeah, I'd agree with it not being Slipmatt. I reckon the only reason people thought this is cos of the cat no similarities

Ammended my post to 1994 and kept it as an unknown artist. Think it definitely needs something in the comments to say it has red labels on both sides.

DJ Bizz or DJ Biz?

On NL1 it's stamped as DJ Bizz but on all subsequent No Limit releases, it's stamped as DJ Biz  :doh:

OK, this vinyl has nothing on it at all, just a red label on either side.

Artist : ???
Label : Whitelabel
Cat# : SL001
Year : 1994

A - ???
B - ???

Now then ... discogs have this down as a Slipmatt release from 1993 ... and I'm having trouble agreeing with that. What do you guys think? Have a listen to the mp3 of both sides ...

@192 mp3 of Side A
@192 mp3 of Side B

#66860 XL / City Beat ..

Posted by iamdek on 12 October 2006 - 11:05 PM in Labels

http://www.rolldabeats.com/label/city_beat

Was owned by Tim Palmer ...

and then he went on to set up XL Recordings with Richard Russell.

BUT ... strike me down ... he's the bloke that used to run the legendary Groove Records in Greek St.  :wub:
Here is the full sp from the mouth of Richard Russell ...

Quote

First there was Groove Records, the first specialist rap/dance record store in Soho, London. Its owner was Tim Palmer, and he started a label called Citybeat, in partnership with Martin Mills' Beggars Banquet, to license some of the import records that they were selling in the store. I got to know Tim as I was a teenage customer in the store. Then Tim and Nick Nalkes started XL in 1989 to try and do a fresher version of what Citybeat was doing. I joined in 1990, aged 19. I was doing promo and then A&R. Then, when Tim retired in 1996, I took over. XL had been the most prominent label on the rave scene, which was initially interesting, but I wanted to sign different types of music.
