Phokus
http://www.rolldabeats.com/artist/defender Third member = Clarky (Blackmarket)
thijs
isn't that kenny charles?
Phokus
I don't think so. I've got a copy of the Blackmarket/Lucky Spin picture disc in front of me, it says "Written by Clarky, K Charles, Mr. E." Clarky's name also features on the label of GYRO06 (suspect there should be another / after "Mr E") http://www.rolldabeats.com/image/release/g...e/gyro06/side/a
Ornette
I always assumed Defender was clarky, ever since I saw him run the dub of it down at blackmarket Records one day to the people in there, egged on by Nicky Blackmarket & Ray Keith. he seemed gently proud of the tune... so I still reckon that makes him 'Mister E' as well - mentioned here:http://www.rolldabeats.com/forum/index.php...indpost&p=49464
Phokus
Why put three names on the record if they're all the same person?
Ornette
It happens... personal joke ting... I can only give one example right now, but I know there's more out there: Sylvester Stone of Sly & The Family Stone would have 'sylvester stone' listed as an artist and'sly stone' as the producer... like seperately... I think you could see an example on the sleeve notes for the Stand! album ---- Oh and how about Shock G of Digital Underground, and all his numerous aliases??? haste
I've been able to work this one out. I know Clarky was part of Defender but have no idea if he was Mr E/Mystery as well. I had never thought that they were the same person but havce no evidence to prove or disprove it
jj
Clarky's real name is Dean Clark. Mr E is an early alias of Regulate.
Phokus
Thanks JJ! Did think it odd that someone called Kenny Charles would chose Clarky as his DJ alias!
Ornette
Clarky's real name is Dean Clark. Mr E is an early alias of Regulate. I suppose that answers this thread too...RDB Forum > Additions & Corrections > Artists > is dj regulate dillinja?
Ornette
I'm thinking that this Mr. E / Mystery could well be this one: http://www.rolldabeats.com/artist/mister_e_ The tune on DM1 is similarily titled to DBMTR04, and the DM1 track does after all clearly state it is a remix... I'd have to hear the Rogue Trooper release to know for sure though. Anyone got it?
Ornette
Just wanted to point out, THIS Mister E actually appears as 'Mr. E' on all releases attributed to him! Thats:http://www.rolldabeats.com/release/iq/iq01http://www.rolldabeats.com/release/iq/iq02http://www.rolldabeats.com/release/gyroscope/gyro03http://www.rolldabeats.com/release/gyroscope/gyro06http://www.rolldabeats.com/release/lucky_s...ordings/lsrbm01http://www.rolldabeats.com/release/target/karl001 I've just checked! And then, I take it we all mostly assume that Mystery of DM1 is most likely the same person?
Ornette
http://www.rolldabeats.com/artist/mr_e OK the alias has been correctly adjusted, but it needs to be linked back to 'Regulate', not M. Edwards
