Ornette
There's a couple of things that occured to me about the details for the Pro-One label that I thought I'd bring up / ask about. Consulting my own personal 'tarzan' database... (you know, the one I etc...)WHIRR... WHIRR... Right. Pro-One release #16 is titled "6 Track E.P." and this is true for both the two copies I have of this record. It's written on in ballpoint pen. It has the following cat. no. etched: PROM 16T
Ornette
Pro-One - 6 Track E.P. Here's where it gets interesting.NO track names are offered, but you will discover that track B-3 is Hoppa (Original Mix) That's because track A-1 on the Pro-One release #17 is the extended 'remix' of Hoppa. What? You don't believe?Well my Pro-One #17 has the word "Hoppa" written on it (in the same ballpoint handwriting) along with the legend "Pro-One E.P.". It IS a remix of the 3rd track on side B of the 6-Track E.P. What's that? Circumstantial evidence?Well what about this:Code K - Hoppa (U-O-Me Mix) THIS IS THE THIRD MIX OF THE SAME TRACK!!! The 'original' mix of "Hoppa" is a charming, subtly done and very SHORT track. The 'extended mix' is good, but perhaps is a bit 'overkill'The Bay B Kane remix is excellent - a completely new kettle of fish! Top notch!!! No doubt the artist is Hoppa too but the track is definitely called "Hoppa" as well
Ornette
More Pro-One - 6 Track E.P. stuff... Now could I be wrong, but have known of a Pro-One tune for ages that is apparently called:Run The Guillotene I am pretty certain that it originally dates from late 1992, is probably one of the first ever tracks to use "timestretch" (albeit in a subtle, sensitive way), and has this sped up vocal sample dropping in every so often: "Reasonable!" . Well, funnily enough this track also turns up on this "6-Track E.P.". as well, as the second track on side B. This tune has just got to be originally featured on another release, because July/August 1993 is just too late. Hmmm.
Ornette
Extra more Pro-One - 6 Track E.P. stuff. If track B-2 IS called "Run The Guillotene" and it was originally released on another 1992 released 12", then track B-1 is in fact...Run The Guillotene (Remix) (in reality the two assertions are not dependant on each other at all, actually...) Yes, track B-1 is most certainly a remix of track B-2. Thank you.
eXtreme
Even more to add ! Track 2 on the B side is the same track that appears on : http://www.rolldabeats.com/release/pro_one/prone8t (track B1 with the "Raise the Bones" sample) also track B1 on the prome16t is a remix of this track. thijs
would this mean that the 6 track ep is by higher octave?
eXtreme
and has this sped up vocal sample dropping in every so often: "Reasonable!" . the sample is "Raise the Bones" as sampled from the film 'Willow'
eXtreme
would this mean that the 6 track ep is by higher octave? some are & some are by hoppa. A1. ??A2. ?? (same beats as a hoppa track on PRONE17T)A3. ??B1. Higher Octave - ?? (same Track B1 on PRONE8T)B2. Higher Octave - ?? (Track B1 on PRONE8T) RemixB3. Hoppa - ?? (later released as Track A1 on PRONE17T 'Pro One eP') but fades out early year: 1993 still a bit of a mess, not knowing the track titles. Ornette
Track 2 on the B side is the same track that appears on : http://www.rolldabeats.com/release/pro_one/prone8t(track B1 with the "Raise the Bones" sample)<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Ahh so whats where it originally came out on. "Raise The Bones" aye? I reckon that must be the track title Did you ever hear of the track title I mentioned, then? "Run The Guillotene" is quite similar really, in a 'chinese whispers' kinda way. Maybe someone at the distributors misheard the details!
Ornette
B3. Hoppa - ?? (later released as Track A1 on PRONE17T 'Pro One eP') but fades out early year: 1993 still a bit of a mess, not knowing the track titles.? <{POST_SNAPBACK}>I'm sorry, but I must insist this tune is called "Hoppa". It was known as this for PRONE 17T everywhere I went. Not to mention the evidence from the Code K/Ruff Guidance release. And it's not just a longer version that's on the PRONE 17T release either - there's a number of differences to it to distinguish from the original. eXtreme
ahh yes you are correct, going by the remix aswell makes sense. ive always thought the artist was hoppa as in 'hoppa & bones' but just looked & its 'Hopa & bones' so not that at all. Pro One blurb from discogs : ""Pro-One Records was formed in the East End of London in 1992 as an outlet for the growing underground hardcore scene. Early releases such as Hopa's "Raize The Bonez" and Utomica's "Rockabye" featuring Hopa, Martin Lee-Stephenson and label boss David Salvi were instant club hits. Pro-One also released Law and Auders early Jungle recordings including "Who Run Tings" featuring Martin Lee-Stephenson and Phillip Earle who later formed the record company of the same name. Pro-One later released many early Drum & Bass recordings, both pre and post amen."" also just seen the pro one EP listed for sale as "Hopa & Bay b kane - Pro one EP"
Guest blah
i'll find my copy and help you out on this , I just used to call it the pro one mini lp as it just helps simplify it when narrowing it down , and it could just be all the same artist anyway. Guest blah
DAMN.. I dent have this anymore and i think I sold it to a mate when i got "raise the boat" and "outta control" on 12, I will try my best but the geezer i sold it to i'm a bit distant towards him at best at the mo but I will try , for the sake of rdb (heh heh)
eXtreme
after a little investigation ive found: Higher Octave are 2 people, Hopkins & Salvi. Hopa (from hopa & bones fame) is D.Hopkins so i would say PRONE17T should read like this: Artist: Hopa (some say with Bay B Kane)A. HoppaB1. ??B2. ??
