From the Fozbee & Cooz/Dimension - Psychology EP (what a release!! FSOL jacked plenty of sounds from it).

DJ Crystl - Warpdrive (both the original and remix).

Synthpad from the intro used by Crystl for the drop-outs, the main one on the background, not the strings.

The bassline is Rob copying Energy Flash by Joey Beltram, using pitch bend until we went, ‘That’ll do!'”

Good interview. They're speaking from memory and on behalf of Rob Playford though. Both use a different sound, but the pattern is identical.
I'd imagine that would be hard to replicate, so I still think it's possible that there's a link between these 2 tunes.
