(Run DMC &) Aerosmith - Walk This Way

Had a good search through the forums and not seen this mentioned, but I'm reluctant to add this as a breakbeat unless someone confirms or rubbishes my theory.

Isn't the extremely well-known opening break used in the intro of Lemon D's Urban Style Music?

I know the Run DMC break is straight from the original song but somehow I can't see Lemon D owning a 1975 Aerosmith LP.

Opinions?

The break on the original 1975 version and the Run DMC version aren't the same though. There may well be samples in there but the Run DMC version's break is at least partially recreated with a drum machine.

Yeah its probably not samples at all, thinking about it. Breakbeats hadn't started being sampled at that point, and if you compare to Peter Piper for instance you'll see the break only comes in off the Jam Master Jay cutting

Yes you are right, Marley Marl managed to find a way of integrating individual sample hits to his drum beats. I'd put "Marley Marl Scratch" as possibly an earlier example.

Alledgedly "The Bridge" existed as a demo underground version all the way back to 1984, but I'd doubt if that had any samples in it

However, thinking again about "Walk This Way" yes I think Jam Master Jay does cut in the break over the intro beats doesn't he...? not listened for a while but seem to remember some scratching
