I did say though that i built a very similar break using the mantronix amen break and 808 bass along with the snippet from 2 in rhythm - happy magic. Heres my version and original version plus a snippet from 2 in rhythm Frankie bones - http://www.mediafire..._bones_amen.wavmy version lol - http://www.mediafire...1b8q/my_brk.wav snippet - http://www.mediafire...enter_piece.wav
Ornette
Ha ha think this one qualifies as one of our coveted "third generation" breaks! Had assumed that people were probably re-sampling from the Horn Track, rather than being a completely separate source. Frankie Bones definitely considered the Success-N-Effect track as one of the most important milestones in the music, which he mentions in his discogs review here: ...For the first 6 months of my arrival to the U.K. back in the later months of 1989, this was my most treasured track, the one people would remember me for... ...it became the template for the young U.K. youth who began to experiment in the studio. The end result being Jungle and Drum & Bass. This record was the prototype. A few others using this, as incorrectly attributed in the other thread, are:Gappa G & Hyper Hypa - Information Centre (Bizzy B Remix)Torchman - A Light In The Dark and a particularily standout example this one I think, so gonna post the youtube:DJ Rock - Movin' Babehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jda7MCzMvlU Any other examples, anyone? Beat-Findation
Lol yes Ornette i do believe you are right fella, 3rd gen it is. It was 2nd gen as far a success n effect but being used by Frankie makes it a 3rd gen. So then, what with the mantronix amen being borrowed from kurtis mantronix for the roll it up track, does that then make it 4th gen i wonder. The only new bits along with the roll it up track being the 808 bass and a few other elements. It's got me wondering how far to go with this 1, 2,3 generation thing. Nice one though Ornette for the input.
