there was a bootleg at one time with just "snowman" etched on it and 2 of the tunes from the full 4-tracker... think IMO was involved :P

Personally I don't think "Snowman" should be taken out of the title of the tune -- that's how everyone has identified the tune since it came out in '93

Just wondering, Logic,
do you know why people would have called it "Snowman"?

It samples Aled Jones' "Walking In The Air", which was on the sound track to the animated version of Raymond Briggs' Snowman cartoon

I knew that it was called "Snowman" because it sampled the theme song to a cartoon with the same name.  Of course, being an American, I had never seen or heard of this cartoon before... I think I just remember asking Haste several years ago why the tune was called "Snowman" and he told me

But that isn't an argument for removing it from the title

OK... cool....  as far as I remember we only called it "Snowman" as a nickname - the XPROJECT1 that I half-inched from a pal had "Snowman" written on it - but I think thats only because its quicker to say:

"yeah have you got that Snowman tune"

than to say:

"yeah have you got that Walking In The Air tune"

My reasons for wanting "Snowman" in the title are descriptive, not prescriptive.

I want it in there because that's how some people know the tune, and thus that's how they'll search for it on here.  Not because I know with certainty that Rebel MC intended it to be referred to that way

This thread is too complex.

To make things more confusing, check this:
http://www.rolldabeats.com/release/congo_natty/lion5
Both versions of "Jah Sunshine" on this are DIFFERENT to
http://www.rolldabeats.com/release/x_project/dubplate1

Which means there are 3 different RELEASED mixes of "Jah Sunshine" and 2 UNRELEASED mixes

And some other notes:

"dubplate 1" aka "ras dub 1":

1. Didn't this one have "ol skool ting" etched? It's a black label 10"... The one I saw had "RAS DUB 1" etched one one side atleast - don't remember the other side.

2. Are these the same 10"s, or did one with "dubplate 1" come first, then "ras dub 1" come as a repress or edition afterwards?

got this record sitting in front of me (10" black label one) i bought it in 1998(?) from blackmarket records so im guessing its a repress

all it has etched on side a is "dubplate1" and "musichouse" the b side just has "mh"

just my 2p's worth

Only just started looking into these releases from the 2000's that were previously unreleased tracks ... this thread is intense :o

This is probably old news now but DUBPLATE 2 / DUBPLATE 2 DUB is the same as CONGONATTY 04 ( https://www.discogs....release/1335344 )
But a different cutting / pressing. What discogs have as Untitled (Dubplate 2) is 'Jungle Flow' https://www.discogs....release/2863314
