De Underground labels: Oddball/U No Dat/Ruff Groove etc

These labels are very confusing, I have so many that are different to what are in the database at the mo.

Some 12s that have the same cat no but different tunes. some releases that are on differetn label and have diff cat nos (& even different artists listed) but have the same tunes as ones that are up there already.

I think it might be time to do a re-haul of the labels. For a start we need to add "U No Dat"and "Ruff Groove" as labels which is linked to De Underground.

I'll go through my tunes and list up what I have on vinyl and it might be cool for other people to do the same as I can see loads of tunes that I have that aren't in there but they are all whites so I have no idea about what the tracks are called

Since we're on De Underground I've got a question:

Does anybody know if the 1997 vocal track "Poltergeist" from Kirsty has been released, and on which (sub) label???

But one I *THINK* I saw first time around, but seems to be gone from the database now:

Label: De Underground

Cat: DUG1

Artist: Flex & Fats

A: D.X.7

B: Big Up

Ruff groove:

RG001

Artist: Unknown

Title: Narrow Boy EP

No tracklist.

http://tarzan.spoox.org/display.php?type=r...release&id=2858 also has a Ruff Groove label...

what is the catalogue number of that one?

The catalogue number is HN05, just like the one listed for De Underground. But it's got a Ruff Groove logo on one side and printed text on the other. So since the official release is under De Underground it's probably best to leave it there, also regarding the catalogue number.

Well here's the next question. Are we going strictly by the etching?? Cos some of em eg: Flex - Dangerous / R.A.W have different cat#s on the label than on the etching. That one for instance has RG20 on the label and UG20 on the etching. I think it would be wisest to ignore the labels and strictly use the etchings. The cat#s HN, RG, UG etc seemed to be all interchangeable and had no relation to what label they were on anyway. And just to make it even more confusing In Touch should also be linked as that was another sublabel.

:D :D :D

I've always felt that Cool Hand and the kru were right piss takers with the way they did they're cat. nos. etc! It doesn't make any sense at all . . .

I mean, personally I don't feel that any of the tunes that I've got that are listed on this site as 'U No Dat' arn't 'De Underground' . I have them stored as 'De Underground' I was contemplating in a bored moment moving all cool hand related tunes under 'De Underground' rather than Oddball, Ruff Groove etc . . .

Had a rummage around Ebay to see if any more info could be had from the listings on there ... maybe it'll help ... but it'll more likely cause more confusion :)

HN09

The other HN09

http://clients.miuk.com/dan/ebay/hn09a.jpg

HN21

Ebay listing matches Tarzan listing

http://clients.miuk.com/dan/ebay/hn21.jpg

IE006

Listed on Ebay as a 4 track 1992 release on IE Records titled 'Flex Programe Part 2'

http://clients.miuk.com/dan/ebay/ie006.jpg

INT002

The tracklisting in the Ebay description matches the above cat# listed on Tarzan.

http://clients.miuk.com/dan/ebay/int002.jpg

UG01

A version of the Oddball logo under De Underground text ... work that one out!!!

http://clients.miuk.com/dan/ebay/ug01.jpg

??? (UG03)

[strike:6d0962c117]Listed as a 2 track whitelabel titled 'Oddball 3' from 1993. No info other than that and this rather poor image.[/strike:6d0962c117]

Scrap that ... this us UG05 ... doh!

http://clients.miuk.com/dan/ebay/oddball3.jpg

UG25

Listed as a 2 track whitelabel on De Underground. So it looks like the proper release was done on In Touch as per post above.

http://clients.miuk.com/dan/ebay/ug25a.jpg

And a few images for listings on Ebay that contained no info ....

Yep ... I have this as well with the In Touch labels. The pen written ones must have been tests or promos before the did their lottery to decide which label to release it on

Looks like the credit could also go to Mike De Underground and not Flex as he's credited as being the engineer :?:
