ever thought about setting up images of the labels and/or sleeve art of records? this is obviously something that would have to happen a long time from now, but it would be neat to see. it's too bad that requires a lot of bandwidth and server space. the guys at www.lowerdepths.com made good use of this. some day! :)

oh yeah!

missing scans are very much welcome. just need to figure out the best way to have them send over. if it is not too big for email that should be fine. if it is.. drop me an email anyway

if you want, you can just tell me the formatting and size information that you want the files to follow, and i can do it from my end. it makes it easier for both parties. a list of the records that you already have images for would be very useful as well.

the images that are used at the moment are high quality jpg's with a width of 400 pixels (the height ends up being about the same). i'll try to get a list of the releases which have a scan already, but not sure how yet.. i'll keep ya updated.

thanks a million for the offer though :D

i'm trying to find a scsi pci card for my pc, but i'm having awful luck. otherwise i can't use my scanner with any efficiency. :( it's currently hooked up to my old mac, which is way too slow. hopefully i should get this sorted out soon, so i can start scanning!

update: i finally found a scsi pci card. i'll be getting it sometime this week. i've got a lot of time off coming up, so hopefully i'll be able to get a lot done.

update: i just hooked up the scanner and scanning is under way!

*edit: i just tried to make a 'composite' image of a full 12 x 12 cover. it looked awful, and because my scanner isn't big enough, i'd have to make 3 passes to make a full composite. i'm just going to scan the records with no cover art for now.

hehe.. thanks in advance (yes.. again ). i have been looking for a scanner myself actually. and came across the problem you seem to be having right now. does anyone know whether there are scanners which can scan a 12" cover in one go? and maybe even more important.. are the affordable?

i knew that i'd have to do some graphic acrobatics, but taking 3 scans and joining them is beyond my skill. i can do it but it looks like garbage. as far as the label scans go - should i not bother scanning record labels on releases that have a picture sleeve?

but maybe it's possible to photograph the 12" sleeves on white background with digital camera. I unfortunately don't own one

but it's a thought.
