  1. I had a feeling that it may have been a serial number from the pressing plant, as it was just stamped on the centre rather than hand-etched. I always thought the bass used in this track sounded quite similar to the bassline in Ray's 'Midnite (93 Dubplate Mix)'. Love hearing cheeky tunes sampling large bits of music.
  2. Last year I got my hands on my very first dubplate estimated as being from around 1993. It was listed on Soundbytes webstore as being a Ray Keith tune, but had no details on the plate or sleeve, other than Ray "K" 'Nu Toys!!!!'. There is a catalogue/pressing number (?) of '120924' on the plate itself. The A-Side track was identified as 'Arron' which appeared on [GYRO 04] Destroy - Let The Bass Kick (cheers JJ from the B2VOS forum). The B-Side sounds a lot like Ray Keith's style from around this time. Pure darkcore with loads of soaring strings, heavy amens and an awesome melody nicked from Aphex Twin's 'Polynominal-C' track. There is a vocal sample of 'Ruffige', ragga 'Boh!!!'s and female vox 'You got me just where you want' scattered through. A heavy, heavy tune! https://soundcloud.com/stuz74/ray-k-nu-toys-untitled-b-side
  3. I absolutely loved your 'Killing Time - Samhain' mix Recoil, so will be happy enough to grab some of this. Quite a few that I've either never heard, or can't remember the name of. It's great to see you digging out some class B-Sides. Mayhem's 'Let Me Tell You Something' and Intense's 'Journey Into The Unknown' especially!!!
  4. Dunno if I should be posting this here, or as a 2nd generation sample, but since you've already got Talking Heads 'Once In A Lifetime' listed as sampling Sugar Bear I though it'd be okay mentioning that 4 Hero's 'Where's The Boy (Trial By Ecstasy)' directly lifts from the Talking Heads song, bassline and all.
  5. [NUT019] Trace + Nico - Cells / Copies. Both tracks on this release sample dialogue from Masamune Shirow's 'Ghost In The Shell' anime movie. A - Cells - 'Cells repeat the process of degeneration and regeneration'... 'All things change in a dynamic environment. AA - Copies - 'A copy is just an identical image. There is the possibility that a single virus could destroy an entire set of systems and copies do not give rise to variety and originality'.
  6. 'Cells repeat the process of degeneration and regeneration'... 'All things change in a dynamic environment'. Dialogue taken from Masamune Shirow's 'Ghost In The Shell' anime movie.
  7. I was convinced it was saying 'Dope style' in this track until I read this. Just goes to show how easy you can train your ears to interpret something else due to a track title. Mind you, 'Toad Style' would not have sounded as good! Nice deciphering.
