DJ Krust - "Inside" / "Flip It"

Now this one is a big tune.

Initially surfacing around Nov/Dec 1997, I first heard JJ Frost play it on his Kiss FM show (when he was still sharing the Weds eve slot) referring to it as "Inside".

Starting off with a deceptively flippant beat ala his "Rukus" tune, it cuts out to some sinister single-tone textured synth lead with some processed female vocals something like "...deeep in the water its not cold enough..." and builds up from this for a couple of minutes with ruff beats and string section accompiaments.

But just when you caught the flow, it cuts out to drop back in for a more familiar two-step roll-out!

Very, very effective, the tune was played quite a bit by a number of the DJ's, including Grooverider and DJ Randall who both played it on their Radio 1 and Kiss FM shows respectively right up to August of the following year (1998)! On those occasions both referred to the tune as "Flip It" and I belive JJ Frost also begain calling it that as well pretty soon after he first started playing it but not too sure.

With a tune as big as this (massive!) I had always assumed it had probably surfaced on that album of his, which I never got round to checking out, even though the tracklisting for it suggested otherwise. Apparantly not.

Why no release I don't know.

Thanks again to DJ Destiny for the confirmation

Well, thanks Godfather Sage,

as pointed out by yourself this Esthero tune is certainly the one that I am talking about! I just found a clip from Amazon and its the one!

...It actually looks like this track title "Flip It" could actually be representative of something else entirely. Having just checked with Destiny, he has a clip of something that is completely different, and is as it stands, seemingly unreleased.

This is quite odd as I certainly remember DJ Randall & Grooverider playing this Esthero tune and both referring to it as

"dj krust - flip it"...

Not sure why they wouldn't have had the correct track details, especially considering I taped them playing it quite deeply into 1998 - which is when it was released, apparently... (July 21, 1998 according to Amazon)

All a bit confusing, but certainly thanks for your input, Mr. Sage.

Well this could explain the confusion!

Bryan Gee on his twitter posted up a pic of a DAT he's dug out for the Dom & Roland 'Dubs From The Dungeons' project.

I guess when Randall and Grooverider were playing it they were both calling the wrong one Flip It

In any case, up for pre order right now, on lovely gold coloured vinyl :)
