  1. Ledge - thank you!! Kept thinking it was "beats"
  2. Convinced this is either V Recordings, DJ Die... or both. Tried the lyrics in search engines but no joy. *EDIT Apologies - the tape pack my mate has says it’s ‘95 but listening to the set I reckon it’s 1996. http://sndup.net/ck8k
  3. Absolutely fantastic reply Ornette, thank you. I’m inclined to agree with you and I reckon we think along the same lines as I was debating this also. I noticed the Joker07 remixes too a while back and often wondered about it. I think fir such a classic scene and era, this early trend of “gap filling” in label releases really needs to be addressed a quarter of a century later.
  4. This: https://www.discogs.com/DOPE-Burning.../release/92435 NOT the flip side to Burning on the original Rugged 13 (Travelling remix) which people seem to get confused with but a separate release with a remix of Burning itself. Flipping love the Burning track, but have never even heard the remix on this supposed white label. Anyone got any info on it????
  5. Cheers jj. Just glad to sort of ID a tune after all these years - recently thought I'd made that dark synth up meself and actually dreamed about the tune!
  6. This has been running around in my head for years Was only looking through the video to see if I was in it! Anyone ID the tune please?
  7. Basically, part II of this thread where I've totally got the film wrong! The sample is 100% from the original Predator film with the self-destruct bomb-thing timer on his arm at the end of the film, see first YT clip. The tune starts off with this sample and towards the end of the manic laugh the amen kicks in. The amen (see 2nd YT clip) is more or less lifted from NWA - Straight Outta Compton, if not at a slightly higher tempo. Thinking it might be obvious to some of you purists now... PREDATOR SAMPLE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WofqmWpXJZ8 NWA AMEN http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZqZschnrxM
  8. Man, this one's been bothering me a while now: Borrowed a few vinyl from my mate in 1998 and found a gem which I played at the wrong speed which was a mad amen track with high-pitched laughing - when I played it at the correct 33rpm it's sampled off a film with dark pads (monk-like?) and an evil bloke maniacally laughing for ages when an amen break comes in nicely; the amen's that slow it might even be hip hop, let alone early breaks. Kept thinking Beastie Boys but I was rinsing 'Intergalactic' during that period and may be getting confused. The evil laugh I mentioned I'm 90% sure is from Darkness's laugh in Legend, fast forward to 1:01:07 in the YT link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=542L8vaxf_k Only info I have is that tune was very early 90s or even late 80s and I think the artwork on the sleeve was either dark pink or red & black. Genius if ID solved!
  9. Many thanks Re-Touch... saw that the cat. no. was referring to the tune 2:30 in - didn't think to try the flip!
  10. No doubt we've all seen this video at one time or another, but what is the opening tune please? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpidqcG7sSo
  11. Nope, NOT DJ SS's Red in the Formation Colour Series! Sampled from classic RnB Brownstone - If You Love Me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bzEYg-CpQE Same vocals, more melodic bassline with a pitched down/up snare roll every 8 bars, breaks are the much-sampled and speeded up Kurtis Blow - Do The Do (Bukem - Horizons example)...heard Nexus playing this at Quest Wolverhampton1995. Really annoying this is as I knew him quite well BITD and never asked him about this tune (Nexus, not Bukem)
  12. Yep, I was there and No, I still can't ID it It got to the point where I asked my mate a couple of years ago who was MCing for KK if he remembered what it was... KK just smiled and shook his head, smashing bloke. Anyway, see if you guys can help! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8zFIVxmAfg&context=C4536205ADvjVQa1PpcFP1VRZ4rySGvw02u-2-XfRXkUR3ciZ454k=
  13. Is it one of SS/Mental Power's colour series? Blue?
  14. Ripped from his set 31.12.93 20 mins in after Hyper On Experience's 'Lord Of The Null Lines'. Thought there'd be a tracklisting somewhere on the net but if someone can enlighten me I'd be really grateful http://www.mediafire.com/?a00sb49q3d4638y
