neurotix
Can anyone tell me please which is the exact version of the riddim that babyface and Lt. Stitchie are on, doing their 'Dangerous' lyrics. Did they actually release this, or was it dub only? Its the Kuff riddim isn't it? 1:50https://www.youtube...._Xh3HQ&index=12 Thanks
droid
Its Conroy Smith doing the vocal from 'dangerous' on a 90's cut of the diseases riddim. You'll need to search around for it but its not radically different to any of the mid 80's+ versions. Might even be the Junjo cut. Intro from Jigsy king. No Stitchie involved from what I can hear. Logic
Weird, I was just thinking about that riddim this morning. I messaged droid about it a while back as well... It's easily the best Diseases version, but IMO it sounds quite a bit different from any of the other versions (that I've heard, anyway). It's the rhythm guitar that does it for me I think At the beginning of that tape Babyface does a juggling ting with a few tunes on the riddim. If memory serves, he juggles dubs from Conroy Smith, Stitchie, Bounty Killer, and Buju Banton
neurotix
Ah, murky bucket peeps. Parts of Diseases sounds a bit like kuff. Still cant find the 'digital' version of diseases used at this clash, but will keep looking. Is that really not Stitchie at 3:39 though? Many thanks again. droid
Yeah, I was only referring to the tune at 1:50. Here's the PM I sent to Logic about it at the time (thanks for reminding me!). Yeah - diseases all the way. At first I thought it must be Bobby Digital's early 90's cut: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nn-DMMAdoCI, its about the right tempo but not the right version. Could be the Xterminator version from 94, but who knows? It could easily have come from the flip of an 80's version... there's tons to pick from. The intro points to the Bobby Konders version without the "Golden Hen' horns: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwETrTu9RU0 As for the vocals: 'Dangerous' as you know came out on Jah Life in '96 on a reversion of the Joyride riddim. The original version came out in '88 on Redman on the 'dangerous' riddim: http://www.dancehall...m&id=403&page=1 I have both on mp3 if you want them. The second tune is indeed Stitchie - 'Hot like the sun' on the main street version of Sleng Teng: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFH3VOyUpNA available on 7". Stuck on the beenie man and its driving me mad. I know the tune really well but I cant remember the name! The Bounty killer is 'Seek God' ft Junior Reid on the Kettle Drum riddim I think the Buju is a tune called 'disgrace' on the answer rididm. One of the few Buju tunes I dont have in any format. Hope that helps.
