Another Bukem Amen (Not Chucks Beats)

Was just browsing through the grid on DOA and saw a topic about the "chuck's beats" amen used in Bukem's Demons Theme.

Turns out one bar of that break appeared on an old 1992 sample cd called "Dangerous CD Company Danger 1" - anyway, all the amen break edits from that CD have been uploaded and two of them (Amen 4 and Amen 5) are used in Bukem's "A Couple of Beats". It appears that the breaks on that CD have been sampled from elsewhere so it looks like another second generation amen is out there to be found.

The amen loops are here: http://www.mediafire.com/?itejzw2wnw3

call me a jackass but i've just emailed and pm'd matey from doa if he would except my paypal offer of £50 in exchange for a cd copy of danger 1 and 2!

but you see if that's the sample cd where the 3rd 'hold it down' (2 mad mice) break comes from I can't risk not finding out!

I simply MUST have these sample cd's!! can't beleive people are saying the datafile's are hard to get hold of they're easy to get hold of!

These two Danger sample CD's were unheard of to me until now. I've owned all the other classic ones from the early 90's except these - who was selling them at the time, places like Time & Space or AMG? They've certainly slipped past me silently.

I too would be interested in hearing the breaks on both of them as, according to that topic on DOA, there are some obvious classics on them.

Well the first one is a variant of the Roll It Up amen, with the short whistle blast, which I'm pretty certain is taken from Egyptian Empire - The Horn Track.

The 3rd one seems familiar also... But no 'Atmospherical Jubilancy' break then?

I wonder if any of the variants we seek might appear in this list...

Isn't the third one from Mantronix - King of the Beats? It sounds a bit like it. I've also been checking out that list of tunes today on the Rap FAQ and none of them are any good except for the Salt n Pepa tune, which I see you've just posted already B-)

im still waiting for this guy to pm/email back. this was 4 days ago now. If he really is the only person in the whole wolrd who has both cd's then. I'm either gonna keep bugging him/her or offer £70 and my gold watch lol.

only other info I can find, if you call that info :( http://www.soundonsound.com/Contents.php?Month=9&Year=1992

Yeah there's not much info on google about these CD's, I spent a while looking and only came up with a few bits, including that Sound on Sound thing. I shall now be keeping a look out on the net for downloads of these CD's just in case some kind soul decides to share them with the rest of the world hehe.

6 years on does anyone think there is much interest still in this CD? Recently moved house and found Danger CD 1. Signed up here just to see if anyone had any other info on it. This forum and the Sound on Sound site are the only hits I can get. Any of you specialists know any more?

Thanks

Hi.

The samples for Danger Vol 1 were recorded/compiled at a studio in Arnos Grove. The studio was called either Sound Garden or Music Garden Studios (I can't quite remember) A lot of the samples were taken from my own record collection. The guy behind the Dangerous Cd Company is called Brian Teasdale (RED) I'm not entirely sure about the content of Volume 2 though. I think this might have been released after i stopped seeing Brian.

I first went to his studio around 91/92 to record some Hardcore demos. i was about 19 years old. When Brian heard the records i was sampling from he asked if he could borrow my collection. That's how this sample cd came about. Together with Brian's sister & girlfriend we went to the Frankfurt Musikmesse & launched the cd there. I have 1 photo from Musikmesse (see attached thumbnail below) I may also have 1 copy of the cd.

That first night after Musikmesse was very bizarre. Brian & me ended up in a dodgy situation one evening. Brian liked his drink. He passed out in a bar & i was unable to rouse him. This young lady in the bar offered to take us back to her apartment. We all ended up in her bed. Then there was a knock at the door. She freaked out & ran back in saying it was her boyfriend, back from National Services. He was yelling telling me he was going to get his friends to fuck us up. I was shitting myself. Brian thought it was hilarious. We managed to get out & find a taxi but Brian said he didn't know where we were staying. We basically drove around Frankfurt until morning & went straight back to Musikmesse. A fantastic memory now, but i barely knew Brian & the whole thing freaked me out.

I don't think i saw much of Brian after that. Maybe a few times, but we eventually lost contact.

I tried to contact him a few years back. He's still around but he's had health issues. i thought it best to leave things as they were.

He can be found here:

& here's an article about his Father (also called Brian)
