There are loads of records that have a little extra text etched in the runout grooves of the vinyl. Please post up any you know about making sure the title of the thread has the record's cat no and the label name as well as any extra info you'd like to add (artist name & track titles are not strcitly necessary). It would be best to specifiy which side the etching appears on, especially if both side have etchings on them. Any comments on the etchings that you want to add should be put in square brackets in the comment. To indicate spelling mistakes on the actual etched text that are not simply typos then use "[sic]"

Please do not post any etchings from mastering houses. Some that you should look out for are

"Simon @ The Exchange"

"A Porky Prime Cut"

Anything mentioning JTS or Freddy

Anything mentioning Masterpiece

Beau (engineer of Heathmans Mastering)

Stu (mastering engineer)

MPO (vinyl pressing)

Damont

Music House

paxxxx" (number)

Transition

Eurodisc

Details of these mastering house etchings can be found in the mastering house forum (click here).

There may well be more that turn up and I'll add them here as and when they are posted. If you are unsure post it up and we can decide whether it's relevant or not

For the sake of keeping things manageable please keep each post for the same label, that'll make it easier to look through to see if the info you're trying to post has already been put up.

This forum might be merged into a single thread at some point as I've no idea if there's a need for a whole forum dedicated to this stuff...we'll see!

Anyway, start posting

What about the whole list of "old catalogue numbers" (either test press cats or "named" cats like the BC and Ram stuff)??

Like a lot of the newer Rams that have their original test press catalogue number scratched out?

Sure, like I said put up anything that is not the Cat No - any non-standard info.

It may well be that old Cat Nos will appear in the comments field and not the runout etchings one but it's best to have the info recorded somewhere.
