Break The Limits

Just thought I'd say that DJ eXtreme's site has at least one of the tunes on this label listed as:

C of Energy - O'Well (BTL011)

Well the thing is that I just wanted to point out how similar this tune is to the stuff on the H.N.R. label...

Could it be that the Break The Limits and the H.N.R. Recordings labels are related?

At least Bay B Kane is a common link between the two.

We have no info at all on the H.N.R. label. I think that the similarity of music is undeniable.

Also, Mister E, of Double T & Mister E - Double T & Mister E EP amoungst others...

Like Dillinja & Mister E - 3:01 In The Morning, Underworld - The Rising and Defender - Feel It (Bass) (Part 1)

isn't this simply DJ Clarky? In fact I'm certain of it, I'm sure I even read it somewhere. So its a bit schitzophrenic naming your self twice on the credits - its been done for years and years after all...

I'm not sure about the Mr E/Mystery thing. I'm sure I've seen the artist listed as "Mr E Clarky" but whether that was just a mistake by the printers/designers I'm not sure.

Until we can proove for sure I'd leave them separate. Like you've said it doesn't make sense to list yourself twice!

I seem to recall some of the labels give credit to Chris Energy as the artist for HNR releases ... who is also known as Chris NRG ... the man behind Goops .. notice the similarity in the artwork ...?

Hmmm... Interesting its not linked in the database!

Pretty certain that my Jungle Tommy E.P. has 'Chris Energy' on the label

Chris NRG = Chris Energy

P.S. I'll have to dig out that 1996 released Jazz Step E.P. of Chris Energy as there is no mention of it here!

Ahh seen, nice one Blah. So, then, who is the M Edwards that is currently listed for Break The Limits? Does Chris Energy mind if we have any more details for him on the database? Can you confirm any other of our speculations?

I think chris energy owned or half owned break the limits label, haven't been to a fair in years so can't ask him, I think he was gonna do a site or shop called hit & run records which is very novel as his 12" prices were steep

Stumbled across this and can shed some light. Chris used to own/run Hit & Run records in Wood St Walthamstow (and the HNR label). Break the Limits were originally from Walthamstow and used to frequent his record shop - they were friends not partners. Chris licensed one EP to the BTL label. Break the Limits were signed up to XL as Numatic at the end of 1991 and soon after split up - one of the members continuing as Numatic and the other going on to form Bay-B-Kane. Don't know who DJ Clarky is but I can assure you he's nothng to do with BTL.

Regards.

Think I have some info for BTL008

Artist: Nu-Matic

Title: Fragmental EP

Year: 1992

Format: 12"

A1. Nu-Matic - Hard Times

A2. Nu-Matic - The Theme (Bosch Mix)

AA1. Nu-Matic - Frequential Fatigue (Braincell Mix)

AA2. Nu-Matic - Into A Dream

A limited 500 white label release, prior to full release on XL here

We had just released a white label limited pressing (500 copies only) of a 4 track EP we called “Fragmental” EP. Within 3 days, we received a phone call from XL saying “wow we want dis...”

Owners of label would indeed seem to be M. Edwards & Mel Tanur

and M. Edwards = Matt Edwards
