The_Manipulator
Horn sample For some reason I always get suspicious when I see a Horn (or any other instrument) sample credited to a rap tune...
haste
It won't be the original source for that sample, but I know the Rakim track and am well aware that the horn in that tune has been sampled a few times
sch_pr
well i wondered myself too pehaps rakim sampled those horns from elsewhere(not sure yet, thought it's sounds a bit like a synth trumpet) but for those 2 (aquasky & drunken master), i told myself it was sampled directly from the rakim tune (kick is sampled with)but maybe i'm all wrong if anybody know the origin of the sample (before rakim) (if it exists ),it could help
The_Manipulator
but for those 2 (aquasky & drunken master), i told myself it was sampled directly from the rakim tune (kick is sampled with) That's true, a lot of times people don't bother searching and take the first available source, and in a lot of cases additional sounds point to the sampled source (rather than the sample source ). I still think the all-time best example of this is Marv Cain sampling his amen on "The Hitman" from Terrorist...
