Born out of a shared love for heavy choppy beats, tearing bass and futuristic sounds, the label seems to be a logical move as the “glitch hop” sound emerges. Combining these sounds with the movement of dubstep and energy of breakbeat, this label is a truly versatile beast. Skanky Panky Vol. 1 pulls together a roster of cutting edge artists from around the globe and gives you a mouth watering taste of things to come. J.meJOut of the gates we have Vancouver's JMEJ who has dealt out a thunderous crunky glitch/dubstep crossover riddim by the name of "Gut Romper". A huge slab of brooding snarls, wonky synths, and a furious dubstep stomp "Gut Romper" just straight up delivers. His cavernous yet tight bass sounds and impeccable musical timing have JMEJ branded as one of the most hotly tipped artists in the glitch hop realm. His debut Skanky Panky release is an undeniable confirmation of his talents. Expect big things from this fresh young upstart. FredoIn todays musical climate of screwface half-time swagger and deep moody synths licks it seems that people sometimes forget about the funk. Fear not! Fredo brings the slammin party time wobbles with "Ent Wot Yo". Huge funk drums meet ass-jiggling bottom end specifically engineered to get your behind realigned. Fredo has been causing quite a stir on the dubstep front as of late after being snapped up by the almighty Tru Thoughs label. On vox we have international globetrotters - A State of Mind (A.S.M). A.S.M have been enjoying huge success with their collabos with France's Wax Tailor and are set for an epic European tour next month. Willam Breakspear & SixAMBringin the foul mouthed filth we have Skanky Panky Records head honchos - William Breakspear & SixAM with the mid-tempo breakbeat stinker "Vowel Mouthed". Burning hot synths, hefty bass wobs, and obligatory "Gangsta" samples are the name of the game. Add all this to a breakdown that'll have you digging through your 80s theme tune collection playing "name that tune". SixAM have been causing a stink on the UK club scene with prime time support for just about every big name Dubstep/DnB/Hip-hop around. William Breakspear is a veteran breakbeat and DnB producer (Entity / Slim Blue). His finely tuned skills shine through on this, his debut mid-tempo release. Mix N BlendBringin up the caboose in true style we have South Africa's Mix N Blend, with "Get Crunk Wit Jesus". A undeniably unique dose of crunky dubsteppy rawness. Grumbling bass tones, weepy 8-bit synths, and more "Gangsta" samples Mix N Blend have a knack for writing infectious melodies and fully dance-worthy flexes. This troupe of younguns are steady on the rise having dropped a stunning new album which encompasses everything from reggae to breaks, to DnB, and hip-hop. We for one are hugely excited about what this crew have in store for us over the coming years and we hope you agree. http://www.skankypankyrecords.com/SPRR001/skankystraightweb.jpg
