mikeeee-mk2
... also known as the Bulgarian State Television Female Voice Choir!! Believe it or not, quite widely sampled, more than likely after gaining exposure in the UK during the late 80s after some of their work was picked up by the uber-cool 4AD label. I haven't posted this in the main section because I can't name the individual songs that were sampled (mainly because I can't be bothered trawling through albums worth of Bulgarian singing looking for a two-second sample, although some of this stuff is strangely hypnotic!). However, it's fairly safe to say that the vocals on Sonz of a Loop Da Loop Era's Far Out are taken from the work of this choir (a little digging online reveals that the same sample appears clean on one of Simon Harris' Breaks Beats & Scratches albums). Off topic for RDB, two tunes from Leftfield's Leftism album (Song of Life and Release the Pressure) sample them, and apparently the vocals are widely used in trance (not a genre that has ever held much appeal for me). Also heard in the intro to Ya Yas - Looove (Quadromania mix): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wiI5XfbihFc and DJ DD Hass & Extensive - Out of Africa EP: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLMj7dExArE
