haste
I think lots of us on here are interested in the old skool side of this site but surely you are all listening to some new music? Me, I stopped listening to D&B over 10 years ago and although I still buy old skool it's mainly house music that I pick up now when I'm buying dance stuff. OK, granted, some of my favourites sound like old skool, but there's so much interesting stuff out there in the house/bass genres at the moment. I'm sure many of you have heard it as it was one of the bigger tunes of last year but this is the sort of thing I love Alongside that I've always been hugely into indie, rock & metal music. There's also plenty of that about that is top Wild Nothing – NocturneBeach House – Bloom What are you all into? Anyone got any recommendations? Retouch
Some of my boys in london run a sort of minimal smooth garage house label called Join the Dots.. I'm not very knowledgeable on it but the above track reminded me. Heres the first track on youtube i found from the them, they've put some really nice stuff out and are becoming well established:

Logic
I'm a big hip hop head, and there's just tons of amazing new stuff coming out all the time. It's all about beats, scratches, and street lyrics, not ringtone rap nonsense.
nebkins
Ive been buying old sounding new house in the style of the early 90's period along with some deeper bits for the last few years now. Heres some of my faves from the last year. As you can hear a lot of them are very oldskool sounding. Retouch
I'm a big hip hop head, and there's just tons of amazing new stuff coming out all the time. I'm also a die hard 90's darkside head..I deal in rare 90's random rap records..If your not already hip to it, there are some wicked labels putting out some serious unreleased business from the 80's/90's on limited wax @ the moment. Chopped Herring, Dope Folks, Slice of Spice, Diggers with Gratitude... And like you say there is abit of a revolution going on @ the moment with REAL hip hop back in circulation. haste
Right, taken me a long time to reply to this! Cheers for all the recommendations, people. I'm loving loads of these. I checked the Join The Dots label and they have some cool stuff on there, nice to hear of some smaller labels doing some good stuff. Been loving loads of the Bicep stuff coming out recently and also have some Flori bits on Secretsundaze that I really liked, the rest of that lot are definitely my kinda thing. So much new stuff to check out now, it's impossible to find the time for all of it. Logic's post reminds me that I really need to listen to more of this Action Bronson guy, I've seen his name all over the place recently and the tunes Log sent me of his were wicked. Shame to have missed the guy doing a live show in London in December. Oh well, next time! I've been loving these bits in the past few weeks Kolsch - Der Alte So simple (and a bit cheesy) but works really well. Justin Martin - Don't Go (Dusky Remix) The Danny Daze mix off the same release is also nice This one came out earlier in the year but was one of my favs from 2012 Kyodai - Breaking

haste
Foals are great, I picked up their first album but only listened to the second a couple of times. I see they've had a third one, should probably give that a spin too! A band that I absolutely love who play nice, melodic tunes but also have a little more to their sound than most are Field Music. I guess they're not for everyone but I'm a huge fan. Tones of Town was their best album, in my opinion but all of them are good. The last three were all excellent and the're well worth seeing live too. Very talented lads Field Music on Spotify Field Music - In Context http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBqx9Tpmj-U

H_M_M
Haha...Bigup!lol yeah it's kinda sad really, I hardly ever check anything outside of '92 to '96 breakbeat stuff. but just for tonight, as it was mentioned in a convo, I checked out this thing called 'future garage' I didn't want to admit it but I found myself liking it and now I'm wondering if when I restricting my self to all this 20 year old stuff I'm missing out on good stuff going on now
haste
There's loads of good music to check out. I still love lots of old bits and pieces and all the classics that I've known for ages but, despite what some people might say, there are still some very talented people making tunes in all genres. If you're into "future garage" which is basically just garage with a wanky name then I'd recommend these guys called C.R.S.T. who have made loads of things I liked http://rolldabeats.com/artist/c_r_s_t I could recommend more if you wanted. You get really small minded when you just listen to oldskool sh*t. I find that the only new stuff i like is reminiscent of the 90's, especially with hip hop and jungle. There is a new type of garagey house that sounds almost exactly the same as the old stuff. My guess is that the people listening to it didn't hear the original and assume it's fresh haha
neurotix
Dont really listen to much new stuff but occasionally hear a few tunes I like. I'm sure you have probably heard these tunes, they were pretty big, I think I like the Bashmore one cos of the 808s. Same goes for TEED. While admittedly Disclosure and TEED can be quite poppy, I thought these tunes had ol'skool flava. There are new flavas popping up which arent quite 'ready' but might lead to something good - Breach(ben westbeech), Dark Sky, Swamp 81 records, that sort of stuff. Lastly, while not 'new' sounding in any way - straight outta 1983, this is quite a good new tune by DJ Die and friends: Sure thing - holding you tighthttps://www.youtube....h?v=0UJep9gt7BI Bashmorehttps://www.youtube....h?v=SpY9lxI8axo TEED disclosure Disclosurehttps://www.youtube....h?v=ibvS-2oTBa4 Dark Skyhttps://www.youtube....h?v=oqLoW5XE2bs Where is all the good breakbeat though?
