It's unclear whether the other side of the tape, given as "BBC Radio 1 - F & G - 8A 1998 [Ripped by Adam C]" is a continuation or not, though the tracks seem to match the same time period. The bit given at end of 8B however appears is a later recording, from a year or so later.

Also - on the look out for some live broadcast I heard from them in 1998? I remember it having Serious Sounds on it, and No Reality, also this tune with this big sort of boomy amen in it I'd love to hear again

I'm wondering now if these two were infact the same show....
I think I heard some of this 'Prototype' broadcast... If I'm not mistaken, the tune Jumping Jack Frost opens with is precisely the same as the second one of Ed Rush & Optical. It had a sort of 'steel pan' intro to it, perhaps not a steel pan exactly but something similar... and I remember getting the impression from the MC at the time it was one of Ed Rush & Optical's own. It's not something I've heard since, certainly.

Thinking now, I reckon I lost interest from it being a live broadcast, and not hearing Fabio & Grooverider playing... and then tuning in later which is probably what that other bit is I remember. Going by those other live shows it's clear they were playing that 1998-dated "Serious Sounds" several times in 1999, and i'm strongly suspecting now that 'boomy amen' tune I remember is John B "Prowler"
