Ornette
That sounds more like a man's voice sped up, probably from a r'n'b tune from that time. Ought to post this in the 'Sample IDs' forum by the way...

haste
You can def hear the vocal in that video at 0:18. Is the Jodeci tune the same thing as this but without Father MC?

Is the Jodeci tune the same thing as this but without Father MC? i downloaded jodeci- it's alright from iTunes. Obviously a completely different tune to the lyrics described herewhich bare similarity to the Father MC track. Frustrating! oh well, just have to try and track down a copy of the Father MC EP which has an instrumental version of it, as well as the Jodeci tune, the only version of it i can locate seems to be on this LP though. I'm hoping the sample is going to be on the Father MC instrumental
Ornette
I think I heard that tune recently, going thru some old music video's of my sisters... The little sample used might just be from the very end of the song, i.e. where music cuts out and singers sing the last line accapella
sts
this is what you want, http://www.discogs.com/release/1025712 Father MC (featuring Jodeci) - Eveything Is Gonna Be Alright the vocal is featured as a cappella on the intro of the radio version, it is also used and credited on jazzed up (hybrid's) - alright, testify also uses a cut from Eric B & Rakim - I Know You Got Soul (this is how it should be done) sts
