Jumping Jack Frost - 23.10.1996

Some additions/corrections on this. Date matches my details

[23:15]
??? sounds like Share The Fall full vocal mix?
Roni Size Reprazent - Sounds Fresh
Peshay - Jazz Lick
[32.16] [clip]

Updated tracklist - on the first side of that rip after the Play It For Me remix it jumps to the last 17 or so minutes of the show (Rukus to Violent Killa (Dubplate Mix)).**
...
?? (Krust)
...

Did you get a clip for that Krust tune - the last time I looked you linked one of Dubplates-vinyls clips?

Clip here of the track played on the 16/10/96 & 23/10/96 shows:

Does anyone know what that DJ Worm track he's talking about is? Called "Innovations" but not seen it listed anywhere.

Something I'd like to know also. I've looked into it too and like you said doesn't seem to be anything... sounds a bit of an unlikely alias

What I have realised is I had the id for this all along, doh! Fabio gives it on his 21st Nov show, I'd skribbled it down whilst junking my tapes but then completely lost track of what it referred to. He calls it slightly different though, "Innovations by Innovations" if thats any help

That is his DJ name

http://www.discogs.c.../770832-DJ-Worm

He used to play hardcore and jungle at events held at the Plymouth Warehouse, Cornwall Coliseum etc. Inner-Vation was the name he used when producing with Dave Parkinson and this track was released on Phatt Phunk Records

Could it be from the Phoenix Festival on 20th July 1997? There was a Metalheadz stage on that night at Phoenix and Grooverider was playing those tunes at the big events around July/August 1997. On the same day Kemistry & Storm also presented a special Metalheadz show on Kiss FM before playing at Phoenix.

Another possiblilty I've figured could be the Essential Festival

http://www.independe...ng-1252687.html
"The Essential Weekender 97, Finsbury Park, London. 2, 3 Aug, 1pm-10.30pm (Sat)/Midday-10pm (Sun), £25 per day
How does the idea of six massive, waterproof big-tops grab you? ... Saturday is Dance Day and the ultra-cool Massive Attack are headlining. ...The Metalheadz stage showcases the best in drum'n'bass grooves. With DJs such as Goldie, Grooverider, Fabio and Randall...
Sunday, Roots Day, showcases live acts from Coolio to Gil Scott-Heron. Another six stages will be featuring 10 hours of live music - you'll definitely need Monday morning off."

I'm sure I recall one of these friday shows starting with a 'live' broadcast, if so it couldn't have been the 25th which I did have once with that memorable opening sequence (which is of course the entire opening of the Colours LP).  Maybe it was Fabio's show on the 8th that had this

Anyhow still looking forward to the Grooverider shows on the 15th & 22nd turning up where he opens with the End Of Something remix

It's not the first tune on his 15th August show - he opens with Optical - Data Life and doesn't play The End Of Something remix unless it's one of the last few tunes of the show. I've not got the 22nd August show so I can't help you with a clip from that show. This is a clip of Grooverider playing it as his first tune on 16th May 1997 (covering for Fabio) :

Funnily enough I was looking up Bill Laswell just the other week... That's one straight for the discogs want list! ;) Thanks

Thinking about it there's no 'network special' jingles in any of the ad breaks I got on this, and the tape turnover happens in this tune, so its probably all the 17th to be honest

Wow, was it really that early...   I must say, the voiceover over the end of the tune and that being the show's opening is familiar. I thought it was much nearer the release date though, I remember going in Sister Ray asking about it. The only other thing I associate is him playing Sonar, does that feature in the show?

 jj, on 25 May 2015 - 12:38 PM, said:

It's not confirmed yet. He mentions it's by some guys from Birmingham so the shout to DJ Ron could be a coincidence.

Fabio puts Dangerous and another tune by them called Aural Sex in his Eternity Magazine March 1995 chart:

UB40 were from Birmingham... if thats any help

Fairly sure the network shows had stopped by then as Kiss 105 was sold to Chrysalis and then renamed Galaxy 105 FM around September 1997.

I'll check the tape later in the week - he definitely plays Sonar on the show and also a mix of Codename John - Enigma, which he says is a prototype version.

I think he was behind Rough Tone which maybe the same thing you're alluding to
