I have some written details for this show

Grooverider - 04.04.1997

Apparently this was a The Prototype Years showcase, where he had all the artists of the album in, introducing each tune and speaking a little bit about what they were doing. I was listening, but not recording as was a lot of talk and not much new music

I also have a note here that says the CD only track "City Lights" was intended to be later released as a single - I believe this info came from that show

Tracklist

Matrix, Boymerang, Dom & Roland, Optical, John B, Ed Rush & Fierce in the studio

Hidden Agenda - No Guard (Dispatch #3) [Metalheadz - Metalheadz Boxset 1]

Jonny L - Piper [XL]

https://soundcloud.c...fm-2nd-may-1997

Updated... correcting some of the ad breaks.

Interestingly, I hear no adverts after "Revelations" in the rip above, though my notes definitely indicate an advert for Pro Plus that appears after/during it. I guess the uploader spliced that out (though, seemingly not any of the others). Added a few notes also

Also interesting that "Sax Tune" uses the same vocal in it as "The Shining"

Essence Of Aura - So This Is Love

adverts after Pulp Fiction

Updated.

It doesn't sound like an ad break happens after "Loose" but we would be missing a few minutes somewhere (states "the time coming up to a quarter to one" at the end of "Pulp Fiction", though the duration at that point is only 36:39)... though I think this recording is slightly fast (your earlier 20mins clip is definitely slow)

... Strike that, the ad break after "Aquisse" is seamless - uploader The Beat Hub seems to have very smoothly edited these out.

I didn't see this bit before?

Internal Affairs - Shinin' Down On Me

Alex Reece - Touch Me

Though, it's actually a slightly different version of "Shinin' Down" to the released 12", must be this -

Grooverider - 18.07.1997

Grooverider - 27.06.1997

It looks like all the tunes listed for the 27th June show from before Convoy are from the 18th July show. I've got 23 minutes taped from the end of the 27th June show ...

New rip of the 27th June 1997 show clears up which tunes were played on that show. Grooverider mentions Glastonbury is on that weekend so it's definitely from 27th June.

Sorry about this - I need to get my archive tapes out all again & check exactly where I went wrong with all this.

This is also the same part of it where I got this bit wrong, which also needs fixing -

Jumping Jack Frost - 30.07.1997

This is from 2nd July 1997. It was a shorter show than usual because of a Shortee Blitz mix ...

Did you not say this one was out of rota also, can't remember

When I'm at it, I'll go through and add the last final few fragments of 1998 I've still not added, hold tight for that.

Wayward Mind - Homeland (??? mix)

...

Not sure what version of Homeland that is (not the Xpressive Journey mix), but its the same tune as the July show above.

The version of Aleph 1 he plays here has an entire intro (its blended into Minotaur on both the CD & the album)

Fabio - 04.07.1997

1) Wayward minds - Expressions

LTJ Bukem - 23.07.1997

10. Wayward Minds - Feet Don't Fail Me Now (Xpressive Journey Mix - Dubplate Version) (Unreleased)

Fabio - 21.11.1997

...

More tracks from this show in bold:

...

Wayward Minds - Feet Don't Fail Me Now (Xpressive Journey Mix - Dubplate Version) [unreleased]

Is this just an 'instrumental' mix then, he refers to as "the sound of Xpressive, and a track entitled Wayward Minds..." on the 13th June show.

Also it looks correctly the artist name is Wayward Mind, have actually checked this on discogs....

I'll update.

This bit of what I've got is very confused, I had two C60 tapes which I taped and re-taped over, neither of which exist any more! Anyhow:

Grooverider - 20.06.1997

- START -

Matrix - Double Vision

...

Photek - Minotaur

Noise & Paradox - Soundrack For The 10th Planet (Esoteric Funk Mix)

...

Peshay - Miles From Home

Roni Size Reprazent - Jazz

Photek - Trans 7

...

Ed Rush, Optical & Fierce - Alien Girl

John B – Voltage Control [clip]

- adverts -

Matrix - Mute '98

...

This is the first week of two. I'm pretty certain this show started with Double Vision. The bit in italics I have a note written as the original sequence of side B

voiceovers - on Minotaur "we were first to give you Two Swords, and now we're first to give you Minotaur"

- on Voltage Control "If you've just locked in this is Grooverider and you're listening to Kiss 100 FM, representing London..." & "we're gonna cut for an ad break and we'll be back from something from Matrix"

I've amended this somewhat.

It seems I recorded the 20th June show on to the first C60 tape, followed by recording the next week (27th) on to the second.

Some overflow from the 27th (the outro & voiceover for "Plastic Dreams") was then overdubbed mid-way across side A of the first C60 - followed by a fragment of Fabio from what must have been the 11th July, here (as we have the 4th already). This was done making use of the tape counter.

I've updated with reference to some notes I made in 2003, of what I'd thought was on this tape.

Grooverider - 27.06.1997

...

This was from the second tape, I didn't record over this one ... Bits towards the end were recorded over the first tape

It looks like all the tunes listed for the 27th June show from before Convoy are from the 18th July show. I've got 23 minutes taped from the end of the 27th June show and can confirm these tunes were played:

Matrix - Convoy

Intense - 1st Contact

Jay Dee - Plastic Dreams (Peshay Remix)

Nookie - The Breeze

So this is updated too.

I'd made a note of the running order of this second C60 when I archived my tapes, thinking I had not overdubbed across any of this - not realising the bit towards the end of side B was an underdub. My original recording of this 27th show probably started with Matrix - Sedation

Do you have that 23 minute section of this show, I don't think you ever uploaded. My bit of it definitely has Goldie - Demonz appearing before "Plastic Dreams", you can listen here:

27th june segment.mp3

I guess I later decided to record over the majority of this, as what I had was a bit boring, with that Grooverider show from the 18th. Which explains "The Shining" being at the very end of side B... I'd 'ran out' of overdub space on the first C60, and ended up going ahead & obliterating what remained of "Plastic Dreams" on the second, which annoyed me as I'd already missed out on it from the 13th lol.

Kiss FM jungle/drum & bass show tracklistings from 1994-1999. There is audio available for the shows highlighted in red

...

List of shows:

Can we get a few more of these placeholders in for this list. It's getting a bit confusing

We need:

- JJ Frost 25/12/96 - playing "Champion Natty ('97 Dub Plate)"?

- Hype - 15/01/97

- Kenny Ken - 30/04/97

Kenny Ken - 11/06/97 Tracklisting

This needs updating to indicate it's covering for Randall - "Evening listeners, you got me Kenny Ken, standing in for the DJ Randall" he says, over the intro of the first track

Hence,

Kenny Ken - 18/06/97

this must be wrong.

And further more, following the sequence, it should be LTJ Bukem on for the next two weeks

- LTJ Bukem - 25/06/97

- LTJ Bukem - 02/07/97

LTJ Bukem - 23/07/97 Tracklisting

LTJ Bukem - 30/07/97 Tracklisting

Should this not be both of those dates, I note you indicate these shows/tracklists were from dogsonacid - which, with the second, appears that uploader Cakes gave as "July 23rd 97" (here)... for the first I've had a listen in and I haven't been able to discern any dating info, other than him talking about "Turnmills" every two weeks and it being "next week", and "don't forget I'll be in the hot seat next week"

JJ Frost - 02/07/97 Tracklisting

Randall - 09/07/97

http://www.classifiedlistening.com/tarzanstuff/emoticons/eusa_think.gif

The sequence had to change for a month because both Randall and Bukem weren't able to host their scheduled shows. This is what I think probably happened (I can't be 100% as I don't have every show):

Kenny Ken and Randall swapped their shows in the usual rota, so Kenny Ken hosted the shows Randall was scheduled for on 11th June and 18th June. LTJ Bukem would normally have been on 25th June and 2nd July, but he was on the Logical Progression tour of USA & Canada at that time. So JJ Frost filled in for Bukem on those dates and Randall then hosted the shows on 9th and 16th July (I don't have recordings from those dates, but I saw a picture online of a Randall Kiss FM 09/07/97 tape - hopefully that was dated correctly)

The original tracklists for the Bukem shows on the first couple of pages of this thread were from Dogsonacid, but the 23rd July show on there was dated incorrectly so it was corrected on here. The dates can be confirmed from the adverts and comments on both shows - for example on the 30th July Bukem show there are details given about the acts and shows Kiss FM are broadcasting from the Essential 97 Weekender on 2nd & 3rd August.

Grooverider - 18.07.1997

Grooverider - 30.05.1997 or 27.06.1997

New rip of the 27th June 1997 show clears up which tunes were played on that show. Grooverider mentions Glastonbury is on that weekend so it's definitely from 27th June.

So I've had a good look up and down all around this point, and it does seem now the dating of the F + G shows across this period are correct.

You'll need to delink this though (and turn it red?):

Grooverider - 30/05/97 Tracklisting

It looks like after recording over the 27th June with the 18th I then began a new tape, by recording what's been dated as the 25th, a show I remember from having that full opening of the 'Colours' LP being played - this I may have sent as a copy to my friend in Japan.

Later I would decide to go over all of it with Fabio from the 29th Aug & 5th Sept, and that small fragment of LTJ Bukem from the 3rd.

Grooverider - 25.07.1997

Do we have the audio for this? I remember it had turned up on another forum somewhere, and deepinside had beat me to posting it here... I hadn't confirmed the date on it, but I assume it checks out

Still hella confused those shows opening with "The End Of Something" were in fact all the way back in May... could have sworn it was much later than that. Though, looking at a written calendar I have here from 1998 looks like I did originally have it down more like June time, but I guess over a period of time I shifted it forward in my head rather than backwards like I should have done.

The two shows in question then, must have been 16/05/97 and 23/05/97 (currently not given for that). The 30th must have been the occasion I was listening in at a friends house.

However, that still leaves that Jumping Jack Frost show - which remains somewhat anomalous...

Jumping Jack Frost - 30.07.1997

...

This was the final bit I had squeezed on to my first C60 tape. Has the 'network special' jingle.

This is from 2nd July 1997. It was a shorter show than usual because of a Shortee Blitz mix - "many thanks to the mighty Jumping Jack Frost for giving Shortee Blitz that time to do the Shortee Blitz half an hour special here on Kiss".

-START-

...

With that network special jingle it's going to be of the 'every other week', which in the normal running of things would indeed have been the 30th July for Frost. However, you have indicated previously of adverts within for events early-mid July, and also of LTJ Bukem being out of the country over that fortnight, which does seem to clinch it as actually the 2nd July (!)

I guess it stands to reason this might have been what prompted me to go over the 27th June with the 18th after all, having caught this recording of Doc Scott "Swarm" from Frost playing it instead.

Anyhow, updated

The date is correct for the 25.07.1997 show. Grooverider mentions the Phoenix Festival was last week and that was held from 17 to 20 July 1997.

I'll upload the audio later today as I downloaded it back then (can't remember who uploaded it) and I've got my own rip I can upload as well.
