Hmmm I've had another think / listen to this, and what I think is going on here is the compression that's pre-transmission added to FM broadcasts.

It was always arrangement wise, identical, but the mixdown seemed different - like a lot harder with the noises & sounds

 

FM broadcast compression is tuned to accentuate spoken-word frequencies, so when heard on music it could account for this.

 

A bit like how Extreme had mentioned to me the "Lifeform" track sounds a bit different on the 12" to how it was broadcast

I've got someone on fb (here) claiming that this unreleased Dillinja tune was actually played on one of Randall's shows, and that he referred to it at the time as "new york sax" (!) :

While I'm at it, I seem to remember listening once to a Randall show where he's got Goldie in the studio all the way through, wanting one of his tunes to get played, finally Randall gives way & plays "Still Life" right at the end... looking now I see it must be this one, ha ha

 

Also a Grooverider show from late summer 1995, where he plays Studio Pressure "The Lightning" right towards the end... I remember as the tune had been out for quite a while by that point, and being quite chuffed about him playing a tune I had already

No tracklist / rip for it yet, but it's probably played by Randall on the 4th September 1996 show. Andy C played it in live sets around that time.
