jj Posted June 16, 2015 Author Report Share Posted June 16, 2015 Another possiblilty I've figured could be the Essential Festival http://www.independe...ng-1252687.html"The Essential Weekender 97, Finsbury Park, London. 2, 3 Aug, 1pm-10.30pm (Sat)/Midday-10pm (Sun), £25 per day I'm sure I recall one of these friday shows starting with a 'live' broadcast, if so it couldn't have been the 25th which I did have once with that memorable opening sequence (which is of course the entire opening of the Colours LP). Maybe it was Fabio's show on the 8th that had this Yeah, that's a good shout. Kiss FM broadcast some of of the Essential Weekender 97 on the Saturday night: http://deepinside.demodulated.com/clip.mp3 Anyhow still looking forward to the Grooverider shows on the 15th & 22nd turning up where he opens with the End Of Something remix It's not the first tune on his 15th August show - he opens with Optical - Data Life and doesn't play The End Of Something remix unless it's one of the last few tunes of the show. I've not got the 22nd August show so I can't help you with a clip from that show. Thanks Thinking about it there's no 'network special' jingles in any of the ad breaks I got on this, and the tape turnover happens in this tune, so its probably all the 17th to be honest It's not the first tune on his 15th August show - he opens with Optical - Data Life and doesn't play The End Of Something remix unless it's one of the last few tunes of the show. This is a clip of Grooverider playing it as his first tune on 16th May 1997 (covering for Fabio): Wow, was it really that early... I must say, the voiceover over the end of the tune and that being the show's opening is familiar. I thought it was much nearer the release date though, I remember going in Sister Ray asking about it. The only other thing I associate is him playing Sonar, does that feature in the show? It's not confirmed yet. He mentions it's by some guys from Birmingham so the shout to DJ Ron could be a coincidence. Grooverider must have hosted the 19th September show as Goldie's birthday is on 19th September and there was a Hardcore Explosion event at Camden Palace on 20th September 1997. Fabio says he's "filling in for the mighty Grooverider" on the 26th September show and Grooverider on the 10th October show thanks Fabio for covering for him over the last few weeks, but Fabio can't have hosted an extra show if Grooverider did the 19th September show. I see you've added my clip which you've marked as also being on the 18th April show? Yes, Fabio plays it on his 18th April show as well - he says "I know very little about that track" on that show.
