Octave One - Chillin' Out (94) Confusion

Hi all,

A friend of mine has a copy of Octave One - Chillin' Out (94). I've been looking for a copy myself for a while but there seems to be some confusion about the correct version of the track.

The copy my friend has is in the usual red and cream/beige 31 Records sleeve and label. When I've searched for the track on youtube, there is a different version to the one I want and that of my friend. This version is more chilled out and the version I want is similar but has a more traditional old skool breakbeat and is more jump-up. The sleeve/tracklisting on youtube and discogs of this look exactly the same as my friends version? (See attachment)

See these links below:

wrong version:

version I want: (listed on Radio Dreamscape as 'You Got's to Chill' - Octave One)

If anyone could clear up this confusion it would much appreciated as I would really like to get my hands on the better version of this track (in my opinion!)

Cheers,

Tim

Well thats interesting. The clip on Radio Dreamscape is the normal, released version on vinyl. Its the one on YouTube that appears to be the 'unreleased' version!

Does that mean that the 'Deleted Mix' did appear on some vinyls? BillyDrum7 seems to talk about there being the unreleased version for download from A Bunch Of Cuts but this is surely the unreleased mix he has posted.

Perhaps there are two versions of the vinyl release?

I'm pretty sure it was pressed twice, once when the label kicked off and then a couple of years later. Maybe the later ones had the "wrong" mix on and the original first pressings had the "deleted" one?

I remember the original 1995 press with the blue & grey pattern which Vetoe13 mentions:

and the one I remember coming across definitely had the same version on it as the later red/pink '31' pressing which I own from 1996:

Which is basically the same one that Randall plays in the clip above, with the variant Lyn Collins - Think (About It) break in it.

If there is a vinyl with the so called 'Deleted Mix' that uses the Plastic Jam - Reggae S/Stick break, a version I had never even heard before Extreme posted a clip of it a few years back, I would be very interested to know more!

There is a thread with discussion on all this already here: http://www.rolldabea...t-alternate-mix http://www.rolldabeats.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=40158

31R001 A-01-1-1 = thats the same as my copy too (valley of the shadows break version)

Extreme posts the full matrix number for the pressing with what we considered the 'released' mix i.e. the Randall version. Timmy could you be as good as to check the cat no. etched onto your friend's vinyl to see how it compares to above?
